1. Scope
Friendly Translation LLC (“Friendly Translation,” “we,” “our”) offers in-person Portuguese ↔ English interpreting along with certified document translation. These terms apply to everyone who visits our website, books a service, or communicates with our team.
2. Booking & payment
- We confirm bookings in writing once we receive the appointment date, location, language, and client contact.
- A 50% retainer secures the interpreter. Remaining fees are due 24 hours before the appointment unless we approve custom billing.
- On-site services carry a two-hour minimum. Travel, parking, and tolls are billed at cost from the interpreter’s base city.
3. Rescheduling & cancellations
- Cancellations with 48+ hours’ notice receive a full credit toward a future booking.
- Cancellations within 48 hours are billed in full plus any non-refundable travel expense.
- If USCIS or EOIR reschedules with 48+ hours’ notice, we transfer your booking at no charge.
4. Client responsibilities
- Provide accurate appointment details and update us immediately if they change.
- Share relevant vocabulary, exhibits, or case background so our interpreters can prepare.
- Interpreters convert spoken language—they cannot give legal advice or sign forms on your behalf.
5. Document translation
Certified translations include our translator affidavit, digital delivery, and one round of minor edits. Apostilles, notarization, or additional proofreading are billed separately and quoted in advance.
6. Privacy
We only use personal information to run our business (booking confirmations, payment, or agreed-upon updates). See the Privacy Policy for full details.
7. Liability & dispute resolution
We stand behind the quality of our interpreters, but we are not responsible for agency decisions, attorney outcomes, or delays outside our control. Any dispute will be handled under New Jersey law, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the affected service.
8. Updates
We may update these terms as our services evolve. We will post the new effective date here, and continued use of our services means you accept the changes.
